Three kinds of asbestos surveys may be undertaken depending on your requirements. Abricon’s partners will review your development, and recommend the one most suitable for your individual purposes.
Type 1 Asbestos survey:
This involves a visual inspection to identify suspected asbestos containing materials (ACMs). It is dependent on the judgment of the surveyor, and all materials suspected of being asbestos containing must be treated as such.
Type 2 Asbestos survey:
This includes laboratory testing of the suspected ACMs in order to fully confirm whether or not they do indeed contain asbestos. This allows for a reduced amount of asbestos containing materials, (as all suspected materials identified in a Type 1 survey must be treated as asbestos containing, prior to laboratory testing) compared to a Type 1 Survey.
Type 3 Asbestos survey:
This is the most comprehensive and is used to locate and describe, as far as it is practicable, all ACMs in the building. This survey is usually used as a basis for tendering the removal of all ACMs from the building prior to demolition or major refurbishment (the survey does not assess the condition of the asbestos).
